Dear Parkway Youth Hockey Families-
The Board of Directors would like to update the membership as to the status of our annual election for Board positions.
In accordance with our Bylaws, the 2020 election was scheduled to be held at the Annual Meeting in April of last year. Eight (8) positions on the Board were up for election with the other seven (7) positions decided in 2021. Due to the onset of the pandemic and the subsequent State and City shutdowns, the election could not be conducted and the membership was notified by email on April 19 that the Board would explore other options.
At the May, 2020 Board of Directors meeting it was voted (12-3) to postpone the election for one year due to the uncertainty of the times and to provide continuous oversight of our program. This information was published on the PYH website in June, 2020 after the Minutes of the May meeting were ratified.
The Board explored an in-person election outside of Roche Arena in December, 2020 but, after a surge of positive Coronavirus cases and subsequent rollbacks by the State and City, decided it was not the safest time to move forward.
Last evening the Board voted to approve that all fifteen (15) positions be made available in April of 2021. The top seven (7) finishers will receive a two-year term and the next eight (8) finishers will receive a one-year term. This will put the program back on track to have eight (8) positions filled in even-numbered years and seven (7) positions filled in odd-numbered years.
Due to the continuous uncertainty of the months ahead, we have yet to decide if the election will be held in-person or conducted by other means. We will keep you informed as to all updates regarding this matter.
