Parkway Youth Hockey Update

Hi All,

Hope everyone is staying healthy and having a great summer.  We learned last week that hockey games are now allowed in a somewhat modified form and Mass Hockey held a webinar to walk through the guidelines that were put out by the
Massachusetts Reopening Committee.  Here is the link if you would like to watch the webinar https://youtu.be/UCokIBRSvHo [youtu.be] and some of the highlights include:

  • No checking at all levels including Bantams and Midgets

  • Scrums for the puck with multiple players battling will be blown dead quickly.

  • Each rink will have its own rules on entry/exit, sign in, etc.

  • Players will need to wear masks if they are the center on a face-off, and when on the bench.

  • Players need to distance six feet when on the bench. Buildings will be providing additional space when they can to allow for this.

  • Locker rooms need to be limited to 50% capacity.  Facilities may keep them closed.

  • Only one player can be in the penalty box at a time. If a team has two penalties, one will need to serve from the players bench.

  • All players must wear face coverings over both the mouth and nose at all times when they enter the rink and stay six feet apart until they get onto the ice.

  • All parents who are in the rink must wear face coverings over both the mouth and nose at all times and stay six feet apart.

  • Only one spectator per player in the facility at a time.

  • Coaches must wear face coverings over both the mouth and nose at all times.

  • Every player is responsible for their own water bottle. Coaches are not allowed to bring water bottles for the team to the rink.

This is all fluid and subject to change, but we are planning for the season to start on time in first week of September and we will be passing along more specific rink guidelines and contact tracing protocols as we get information from FMC.

VHL- has announced games will start:

  • Midget Games starting at the earliest September 8th

  • Squirt through Bantam Games starting September 12th

  • Mite Half Ice Games starting September 26th

We do plan on having Learn to Skate, Instructional, U6 and Town Line Hockey. We may have to modify the programs a bit to follow state guidelines but we will be offering them. (Registration is currently open for Town Line Hockey.)

Lastly, we ask that any outstanding account balances from the 2019-2020 season be addressed prior to September 1st or else your player will not be rostered for the 2020-2021 season. Furthermore, debt collection efforts (after being paused by PYH in March) will resume effective September 1st for any balances owed from the 2018-2019 season or prior. Should you be interested in a payment plan for any outstanding balances, please email parkwayyouthhockey@gmail.com and we’d be glad to set something up. Thank you in advance for your cooperation here.

The safety of all of the kids in our program is our primary concern and we will do all we can to keep everyone safe, but we ask that all of you do your part in following the guidelines that have been set out too.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

PYH Board of Directors
