Program Update & 2014-15 Travel Team TryOuts

The Parkway Youth Hockey Board wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support of the Corrib Raffle that was recently concluded.  Annually, the Corrib is a major donor to PYH and many other local youth organizations so your efforts are appreciated.

Over the next several weeks, the schedule will be developed and posted for travel team try outs for the 2014-2105 season.  Please check the web site starting in mid-February for registration details.

In anticipation of the end of this season and the upcoming tryouts, it is crucial that families reconcile any outstanding program balances that are presently due.  The Board would like to thank those who have been able to complete their payments thus far.  As you are aware, program fees are PYH’s largest source of revenue. At the same time, we have several ongoing monthly expenses.

- For those with children playing on teams in the Valley Hockey League (VHL), this has been our first season.  Unlike the prior years with the Greater Boston Youth Hockey League, the VHL has required payments of regular season game fees at earlier points in the season.  With the transition to the VHL this season and the increase in costs, the Board did not change the payment points for travel team fees to our members.

- Additionally, PYH has ongoing monthly ice costs for the Roche Rink and for Skills sessions with O'Sullivan Hockey.  Also, PYH assumes the team registration fees for those participating in Mass Hockey state tournaments.

For these reasons, having families fulfill their tuition payments in a timely manner eases our cash flow needs and gives us more flexibility around planning should we want to pursue additional expenditures (such as new jerseys or updated equipment) that can benefit our members.

As a result, the Board has determined that families with outstanding balances after try outs are completed this spring will not be placed on a travel team roster for the 2014-2015 season.  Each season at this time, the Board tries to strike a balance between families’ available resources and the requirements of operating PYH on an equitable basis.  We remind you that, as always, limited financial assistance is available through the Board should it be needed.

We want to thank you, the players, all the coaches and volunteers for your efforts thus far and look forward to continued success for PYH
